My Project that helps me in the Future!

June7

For my whole 6th grade experience doing projects, I have noticed that each one has made me think critically which made me learn in a different and better way. The project that has impacted me the most and interested me the most was our Magic of Coding project. This project kind of made me think more about my future and how engineering is something that is pretty cool.

On that coding project, I learned a lot more on how to be patient and to work better with technology. I now know how to create a video game with different codes. I figured out what different codes mean and how to work them, all thanks to the website https://www.tynker.com for helping me make our video game.

The reason why I want to try to keep this knowledge for the future is because it can help me with being an engineer if that is something I want to try doing later on. I can keep expanding on my knowledge that I have already on coding and keep getting better at it instead of forgetting about it and have to learn coding all over again. Coding and working with technology is something that is quite interesting to me and that is why I have been a Genius(Technology Helper) for 2 years, because I want to keep learning and helping with technology. All of my tips and tricks that I have with technology will help me when someone invents the Iphone 10!

All in all, this project has helped me figure out one of my passions. I now know that the passion that I have is useful for people all around the world when they need help with their technology.

Thank you!Screen Shot 2016-06-01 at 7.26.18 PM

My Observations about Our Biodome

June1

I have the best experience creating our bio dome because the bio dome we made had many factors to it and was hands on which made it very fun/creative.

Today when I had seen our bio dome, I had seen that it looked very successful. Everything that we have put in our bio dome has turned out pretty well. All of our items have grown and look very strong. The fish and the frog look like they have grown. Our arugula also looks very healthy and green.

The planting part of our bio dome looks like the arugula is growing vigorous. The first time we planted our arugula, and a couple of days passed by they started to sprout.  After more days past, they got bigger and then the arugula got taller. So now, on this day, the milk gallon where the arugula is at, looks a lot fuller and the arugula is now 7 centimeters tall. Which is a really great sign.

The fish, Kyle Moustache Jenner, and the frog, Messi, are still alive! They both look like they have grown a few cm. Our fish looks like he has fun in his 2 liter bottle. Also, Messi has a blast in his 2 liter bottle because he is always jumping around. I was so glad that the animals are doing great because that showed that we took good care of them. Our group isn’t exactly sure if the worms and grubs are alive, but we hope they still are.

Now that we were observing how our bio dome items have developed, I have noticed how much work we’ve done. I am really impressed and proud for our group.imageimageimage

My Super-Duper-Cool Biodome

June1

imageimageimage

For our newest project called “Change Agents”, we have started to make a bio dome with living things inside of it.🌎 I feel like this in the most fun and fascinating part of our class’ new project. We collected many containers to connect our plants that we are growing and our animals that are living inside of the bio dome.

For my group’s biodome we have a milk carton that contains our plants that we are growing. The plant that we are growing is arugula. This week it just started to sprout and keeps growing every day. When we added soil there were little insects, creatures, and WORMS! My group had gotten two grubs and two worms so it’s poop can help the soil. We take our plant container outside in the morning and water them once in awhile when the soil is dry. The last thing that my group wants to add to the plant container is a watering tube, so when we put water in a cup, it goes through the tube and waters our arugula.

For another part of our biodome we added two very special items! Our #1 item is an Aquatic African Dwarf Frog. My group named him over the best soccer player of all time, Messi, because he is really fast. We added bright colored rocks and a blue and green looking plant. Our frog likes to jump and relax in his own little 2 liter bottle that we created for him. Messi eats 6 very small tadpole pellets, and we feed him every day after school.

Our groups’ 2nd item is a Twin Tailed Male Betta Fish. His name is Kyle Moustache Jenner. We based his name on Kylie Jenner because he he big lips, but we changed his first name into a boy name. Also, we named his second name Moustache because we noticed that we has a thin long moustache. What we added in his cozy 2 liter bottle was also bright rocks and a green colored plant.

I think this is a great bio dome that we can share to people and be proud of. It was a great and super fun experiment to do with our new project.

Our Second Design Day

April8

Hello it’s me. On March 3rd, our sixth grade class had done our 2nd Design Day. YAAAAY! We had some great ideas and memories that day with my group members Crystal, Guadalupe, and Betzaida.

The first step that we did with our group was watch a news report video that told us about the stench in Milpitas and we made our problem based on that. Our group was going to solve the problem of fixing the stench by cleaning up the landfill. We kept creating ideas but then had came up with the one.We made a WILLY, WALLIE’s twin brother.

Our groups WILLIE, had many different features. The way he helped clean our Earth’s landfills was he has an opening in his belly where he puts trash. Once the trash is in there, a type of glue that has a Lysol lavender scent and turns the trash into a cube which smells wonderful. After that the cube comes out WILLIE’s bottom and can create more space for the landfill.

There was a lot of frustration in our group because of the time limit so our group was running around and hot glueing different pieces together. Even though WILLIE’s head was flopping around we still had good ideas that stood out.

For me I think this was a really great Design day. I had a fun time and I think we had an amusing, creative idea. I really hope we can do similar activities.
Thank You!

Best Project!

March2

Arcade

Hello it’s me. For a while now, our sixth grade had been working on an amazing and big project called the Magic of Coding. There were many things we learned about like greek mythology and coding which made this a fun project.

My favorite part of this project had to be our exhibition night. It was very dark like an actual arcade with colorful, glowing lights. The whole exhibition was also pretty seeing everyone(Boys and Girls)in a chiton dress and loral reefs. My greatest feeling was seeing people have fun and lineup to play our video game. Although that was my favorite part, it was very suffocating working at our school arcade with many people and things to do. Yet, it was very enjoyable and entertaining.

My best work that I was proud on and had so much fun doing, was coding my groups video game. I had a great time working with the chromebook and adding different blocks to make different things interactive and fun for people to play. Showing the whole school and different visitors during open campus day was the best sixth grade experience I’ve had. Working on the video game was a lot of hard work and took a lot of persistence but it was very amusing.

I hope when we have another project it can be as cool and learn something interesting like our last project. If coding is something that interests you, https://www.tynker.com is a website you should use and if you like greek mythology, you should read some greek myths like Pandora’s Box, etc.

The New Year!

March2

Hello there, it’s a new year and a great time to think about the best, amazing, and wonderful things that happened to you in the past year, 2015. These are my top three moments of 2015!

Pre-NPL Team

My best moment from 2015 was making my team’s Force South National Premier League for soccer. I had felt really happy and excited when my mom had told me she received an email that said……….

Congratulations,

You have made the 04 Force South Pre-NPL Team! (ect.)

I felt very proud because all the time I took to practice and all the games that I played had paid off. It was the best feeling I had to be able to play in a higher division for 2016.

Reno Trip

Going to Reno for the Come Up for Air (CUFA) soccer tournament was the BEST TRIP EVER! I had went with my old team the San Jose PAC Dynamites. When my family and I arrived to the hotel, it was astonishing! The hotel name was called the Grand Sierra Resort, my soccer games and the hotel was the coolest part. There was restaurants, a swimming pool, bowling, lazer tag, and etc. Our team had gone swimming and bowling together. Bowling was the best because there was music and it was dark which made our clothes and the place look glow in the dark. It was really enjoyable playing with my friends I had and getting to know them more.

El Clásico (Barcelona vs Real Madrid)

This Barcelona vs Real Madrid game, also known as El Clasico, was the last game for 2015 and it was amazing! The only thing that wasn’t too great was that my favorite player, Lionel Messi, was not going to play until the second half because of his knee injury. Other than that tragedy, there were many shocking moments in the game. In just 11 minutes into the first half, Luis Suarez had scored for Barcelona and also scored on the 74th minute. Neymar had also played a great game and was able to score the second goal for Barcelona just before half-time. the second-half came, I thought the best part of the game was when Iniesta . He blasted the ball to the top right corner of the goal! I think Barcelona had an awe-inspiring performance. It was a super intense game!

I can’t wait to see what will com in 2016! Thank you!

PS: I also can’t wait to see Lionel Messi win the 2016 FIFA Ballon d’Or!

Design Day

December16

At our school we had an event called DESIGN DAY! Design Day is when we have groups and we talk about the problem we are given and find a solution for that problem. On Friday in the month of November our class design day problem was a turkey that wanted to get away from the farm to not get eaten. Our class groups had to create a contraption that helps the turkey escape from the farm. My group members were Nick, Crystal, Guadalupe, and I. Our contraption that we made was a sling shot that sends him to India and lands on a magic carpet so the turkey can go around India. The reason why we chose India is because they have a religion that some of them don’t eat meat. For another example there was another group who made a contraption called the Turkey Dispenser. To get the farmer distracted and earn more turkeys they decided to make something that you use with vegetables. You put the vegetables down the dispenser and it turns in to a healthy turkey. Something that we learned the 5 steps of designing. One was empathize where we think like the person that has the problem. Another step was to define which is when we think about what the problem was. The third step we did was ideate where was when our group wrote on post-it note and think about as many creative ideas as possible. The second to the last step was to prototype which was when our group decided over the different ideas. Lastly, we started building our prototype and checked in with other groups to make it better. At the end of Design day all of the sixth grade came together and presented what they decided to build. It was a really great day to learn and have fun.

Thank You!

Reflection on my 1st Essay

December16

For the last 3 weeks our 6th grade class has been working on an environmental essay. My essay was about how litter and hazardous waste can cause land and water pollution.Furthermore, when land and water pollution is mainly in lakes, rivers, and creeks it harms marine animals.

Something that I think was challenging for me during the process of making an essay was having to write a lot of drafts because I had a many words and 5 paragraphs to write over and over again to keep making my writing better.

In addition, when I was done I was very proud of how I had finally learned how to write a correct essay because this is something I could use for the rest of my life.  Another, thing that I was proud of was how my teacher and given me compliments on my final essay draft. So now on for the rest of the year I know to keep my writing the way she likes it.

Finally, even though there are things in my essay she liked there is always space to improve. One thing that I want to improve on is trying to get the highest score(4).I want to learn more through out the year on what I need to do to try to get to that score.

The End.Thank you!                          Esay

Special moment_Go USA!

November10

One of my most favorite special moments from all of my other special moments is when the US Women’s National Team had won the 2015 FIFA World Cup.I was super happy because now this would be their third FIFA World Cup won. This FIFA World Cup was hosted by Canada. It happened the summer before I entered 6th grade, and I would always wake up at any time to watch my favorite teams play. Some teams that I would wake up and watch is USA, Japan(Because I wanted to see how they played from the last FIFA World Cup when they won), France, England, Brasil, Spain, Mexico, and Costa Rica.Once they started to eliminate teams , USA would start to go to the rounds of 16, qualifiers, semi-finals, and the FINALS!When the rounds would start to get intense when USA played, my sister, my mom, and I would gather around the T.V and sit on the couch with some snacks and our pajamas. We would cheer, talk about the good/bad things USA is doing, and have fun.On the day of the finals I was a nervous reck. My grandma had came down to watch the finals game with my sister, Mom, and I and we all felt nervous yet really confident because we were hearing from the spokes men/women and also had our own instinct that they will be champions.Once the referee blew his whistle it meant that the finals game had kicked off.I felt so many emotions I could not even explain.I felt happy, nervous, anxious, and many more emotions. After 3 minutes one of my favorite players, Carli Lloyd had scored from a corner kick! Then again she scored and Lauren  Holiday had scored also .Carli Lloyd had scored once again, but then Japan had scored. It was half time and we all were releaved that they were winning but we had no idea of what was to come in the 2nd half. The second half started and one of the USA defenders, Julie Johnston, had scored an own goal for Japan with was so sad.But it was all good when USA scored again!Another very skillful player had scored, Tobin Heath. The finals game was finally over and USA were the new 2015  FIFA Women’s World Cup champions! The score of the game was 5-2 and everyone was so surprised that USA had scored a whole bunch of goals in a finals game. All the players at the end went on a stage and won their metals and their new trophy. They also gave different kinds of awards as well. Finally, this was my most favorite moment because I really love soccer so this is something that is important and means a lot to me.I can’t wait for the next Women’s FIFA World up!Thank You!USAFIFAUSA
